This article will go through the steps of monitoring a Linux server with Elasticsearch, Beats and Kibana. this article should work in all Linux Systems. its quit short but let u know the basics of the installations
Download and unpack the following to the installation directory (i.e. /opt/elasticsearch)
By default Elasticsearch will run op port 9200 for indexing the data, and Kibana will run on port 5601. For this example we will leave everything as default.
When using the default settings, that is all which is needed. Now we are ready to start.
Now further configuration can be done in the Kibana portal. Open the following url in your browser of choice
http://localhost:5601 (assuming everything is installed locally). On this page the index and timestamp field needs to be specified.
The index can be specified as
metricbeat-* and the default timestamp field
@timestamp and press Create.
On the Discover tab the incoming data should now be visible:
